The beginning of 2017 saw an unstoppable momentum grow for Kosen Productions. The Toulouse based record label has continued to grow since its inception, becoming a pivotal part of the drum & bass underground with every successive release. And alongside their heavyweight roster, which has seen them expand throughout every sound crevasse the genre offers, they have marked France as an epicentre for its growing reach.

Coming next from the imprint is Maniatics’ ‘Fight the Might’ EP, providing three brand new, dangerously fashioned cuts which will become staples within sets throughout festival season. The Spanish trio have pushed their growling, monstrous sonic weapons into hard-hitting DJ sets across Europe and beyond; a relatively new production outfit, they’ve rode a meteoric ascent into the limelight since their first release. This forthcoming EP will see them pushed even further onto their pedestal, moving their success to new heights.

Title-track ‘Fight the Might’ begins with eerie, blaring atmospherics, before slowly beginning to build until a full blown assault is unleashed onto the aural synapses. Distorted, grating snare winds up underneath the mix, before snipped up vocal sample slices through the growling composition. On first listen, you’re made acutely aware of what Maniatics are all about. Each chiselled groove slices through with more impact than the last and you’re left to bask in its ferocity. ‘Pressure’ follows in a similar fashion, despite being a more gradual build - one which becomes overwhelming before its seismic implosion. With rattling hi-hats and a brooding bassline beginning to weave itself through each carefully constructed layer, Maniatics once again go in for the kill with each meticulous breakdown. The trio deliver blow after blow of crushing force.

And finally comes ‘Teenagers’, drawing forward on a more melodic vibe but still devastating in its impact. Winding between elevating synths and clattering drum patterns, the track suddenly detonates, with a hip-hop sample leading the charge. Doing what they do best, Maniatics create a skipping, firing set of beats, apt for the dancefloor yet still leaving destruction in their wake. From start to finish, the EP continues its assault and its one which leaves a lasting impression on its listener.
